Taking a Breather

by Kristi Hines

On my way out of the office the other evening, I got the opportunity to watch two hummingbirds at play, chasing each other back and forth between trees and bushes. It seemed like they had designated “time outs” that they would take in this one tree. Here’s one of the little guys, catching his or her breath before the next super sonic chase. Reminds me of the first time I saw hummingbirds growing up right outside my office.

You can find beauty everywhere, even on your way to work. One lucky morning, I stumbled upon a hummingbird’s nest in the trees right outside my office doors. I got to watch the journey from when these birds were only eggs in the nest to the day that they flew off to start building nests of their own. A truly wonderful bird-watching experience that happened in an otherwise mundane place.
