Sunflower Wedding

by Kristi Hines · Arizona, Scottsdale

When my husband and I got married, our wedding theme revolved around sunflowers. The morning of the wedding, I decided to take a few flowers out of the pile and experiment with a little photography of our wedding jewelry. I thought this one came out the best.

Really good composition, especially how you made sure the petals of the in-focus sunflower did not overlap with the sunflower out-of-focus in the background. The rings are nice too.

Yeah, it took a couple of tries to get them positioned just right. It was well worth the little photo shoot though!

Of course we did! Of course, I’ve got a funnier story to share about that down the road. :)

Nice composition, really captured the color of the sunflowers as well.

Thanks James! The color in the sunlight came out true to their nature. :)

I actually like the way the petals of the sunflower draws you into the rings and the way the rings stand out from the darker background.

Thanks Sire! The whole goal was to make the rings stand out well with the sunflowers… glad I got it to happen after a few (dozen) tries. :)

Great image! I like the shallow DoF and all the details in the flower. Great shot!

Thanks Chris! I was going for as much detail in that first flower as possible!

Love that shot. One of my wedding staples

I was worried that my photographer wouldn’t be able to do details like this so I went for it ahead of time. Turned out to be a good decision as it was an outdoor wedding and the wind would have never made this shot possible.

Great shot! Love that you placed the rings and sunflower in the corner of the frame.

Thanks Chris! It was a bit accidental at first – I had just left the one flower on the ground and was focusing in on the closest one. Then I realized the other one was still in the shot, but thought that it was kind of interesting. :)

Very nice! Great contrast with the bright rings on the dark part of the flower and then throw in the yellow…really cool. I was about to comment about how perfect it was to have the other flower in the corner of the shot (just noticed the comment above).
