Scottsdale Sunset

by Kristi Hines · Arizona, HDR, Scottsdale

One evening, while doing a quick run out to the store for some last minute dinner fixings, I noticed a particularly nice sunset that was happening. Since I have been keeping my tripod in my car and carrying my Nikon everywhere in a camera bag that masquerades as my purse, I was armed and ready. I pulled off the road and parked next to some kind of storage building and caught the sunset right before it disappeared.

What a perfect use of leading lines. I love it. I used to have the 18-200 lens also, I sort of miss it. I sold it when I started converting all my glass to be full frame ready.

Man, I was doing a timelapse of this but my battery died midway…was just amazing with all those contrails. Nice capture!

I almost missed the best part myself… drove right past the place I wanted to park, then had to go down, wait at a red light, u-turn once and u-turn again to get back to the right spot. Too bad about the battery though… those things always go kaput at a crucial moment.

Are you kidding me? This is the most insane sunset I’ve ever seen captured on the blogs. All of those con-trails look so surreal – this is absolutely stunning. Send it to Artistic Photo Canvas and blow it up ASAP! :)

Yesterday I said “your really stepping up your game” to Jason. The two of your have progressed so much, in such a sort about of time. This is one of the best photos you’ve ever posted. Personally, I usually cant stand contrails in photos, but seeing the reflection of them is my favorite part of this photo.

I see all my friends here and thought I’d join the party! And I agree with everyone here. Great lines and compo… processing just seems a little dark overall imho. It’s still beautiful tho : )

Reply

Kristi Hines

Thanks Cliff – glad you joined the party! :) It was a tough processing job – when it was brighter, it brought more attention to the foreground, and I didn’t shoot it in the most interesting of areas, so I really wanted to take the attention away from the foreground towards the actual sunset.
