Nature’s Light Show

by Kristi Hines · Arizona

This weekend, my husband and I spent a fabulous weekend in Northern Arizona, enjoying nature. Although we may not have caught any fireworks on the 4th of July, we did catch a little light show inspired by mother nature herself. It’s not the greatest of all lightning shots, but it was my first successful capture so I had to share it as one of my proud moments from the trip. Will definitely have to get more practice with this now that monsoon season is upon us in the southwest!

More images from this weekend are coming up, including some puffy white cloudy goodness and the Grand Canyon at sunset!

I like this shot. I like how it is striking off into the sunset. I think that makes it a bit more interesting. Nice capture.

Something was in the air this weekend for lightning. I managed to snag a few as well while out with Mike. Love the color contrast you caught with the trees, sky, and lightning.

Sweet! I’ve been trying for lightning for months now, of course there has been only one good storm and it was a total failure 🙂

Oh geez, what a GREAT capture! I love the energy of the tendril you’ve managed to take here, it adds a huge element of interest to a lovely landscape scene. Top drawer, Kristi!

Cool shot! Catching lightning is tough. I have never been successful at it.

Wow. Mike O really has spread the love of weather related photography to all of his AZ photo pals. I’m living everybody’s lightning shots, and this is no exception. Great job!

I been a little addicted to trying to capture lighting photos myself lately. This is a great shot, and being that its still daylight out really tops it off for me.

Like I said on my post any shot with lightning in it is always a great shot! That’s as long as you can walk away from it 😉
