Double Cactus Sunset

by Kristi Hines · Arizona, Peoria

It’s not nearly as exciting as double rainbow, but I captured two cacti during sunset at Lake Pleasant, Arizona.

Cool image. I like the hazy hillsite backdrop and the way the setting sun illuminates the cactus.

Double Rainbows are so overrated now. We’ve been so saturated that all we can appreciate is a triple rainbow. Always on to the next big thing right? ;)

I like that you still caught the light on the flora in the foreground. It adds depth and layers to the image, in my opinion.

Triple rainbow – can’t say I’ve seen one of those, but I bet they’re out there in Hawaii. :)

Beautiful shot! I love those cacti, I always thought they were rather majestic. Sentinels of the desert if you will.

They are! I love seeing mountainsides covered in them – makes me feel like nature is guarding some big secret deeper within!

Thanks Chris! It was a bit of a fight to get the right parts a bit darker, but still leave the details in the foreground. I’m happy with the results though!

Great shot Kristi!

We have some amazing sunsets here in AZ. My wife and I enjoy some beauties right out the front door every night. Keep up the great shots and posting them to Facebook.

Thanks Chris! We do have some amazing sunsets here – my next goal is a mix of monsoon storms rolling in around sunset. :)

Those will be awesome…I look forward to seeing them. We LOVE the monsoons! There is always a buzz in our house whenever there is weather.

Haha, Jason will love that comment Ryan! I really don’t have the dedication that he does when it comes to chasing down the perfect sunset – I just capture the ones I happen to be near. He deserves the domain more than I do – I would be a better fit at theoccasionalsunset.com :)

Great shot, Kristi! I’d love to see it in B&W! :D

I have a B&W image coming up next week actually. Didn’t think to do that with this one, but I bet it would be interesting. :)

Hi Friend, Your picture has the drama of a “double-sunset”. I’m am not a camera-zeek, but your shot is so unusual it merits a competition . I know it would receive good comments, and a sizable prize, and probably a buyer!!!! Thanks for sharing it with us on Facebook. WE don’t see anything like it where I live – - – in Oregon – - – -TOO MUCH RAIN – NOT ENOUGH SUN !!!

Kristi Hines

Thanks Margaret. I would like to visit Oregon sometime because I enjoy photos with clouds – maybe not the full coverage, but at least partly cloudy. :)
