Baby Koala

by Kristi Hines · Australia, Phillip Island

I always feel that starting the week with something cute is a great way to go, so here is a photo from one of my favorite moments in Australia – getting up close to a baby koala!

Baby Koala

Camera: Nikon D3000 with 28-300mm Nikkor Lens
Processing: Adobe Lightroom 3

Also thought I’d throw in the reason why I didn’t get a lot of photos of this little guy. The shot above was really luck because I was just holding the camera up and aiming in the right direction while I was shooting this video instead! Some of the clicking you hear is from my hubby, who got this shot.

Awww, so cute Kristi, its fur blows in the wind! You are really lucky to “accidentally” take this shot because it was just looking at you. Your hubby’s shot was great too! 🙂

Cute creature. Really nice shot of it. I’ve only seen Koala once, at a zoo in Tokyo. It was interesting, but it was indoors and the lights were so low we could barely see them. The zoo claimed they had to keep the lights low because bright lights scared them… a claim I thought was bogus. Oh well.
