Morning Snack

by Kristi Hines

This photo is from last year’s trip to the Grand Canyon. As we were driving into the park, we saw this guy just grazing on the tree. We stopped the car on the side of the road and jumped out to get photos. He didn’t seem to mind as he was busy snacking!

I have to admit, I’m usually not enthused about the cold or being up early in the morning. But being at the Grand Canyon early on a foggy day when you only get a few glimpses from the rim can pay off at the right moments.

It Was Blue Hour…

by Kristi Hines

This shot was taken around blue hour, but thanks to a messed up white balance, it looked like pink hour. I’m a fan of infrared photography, and so far this is the closest I’ve gotten to that same affect.

Winter Wonderland

by Kristi Hines

Many photographers would say there is nothing worse than pure blue sky when shooting a landscape scene, but there is something perfect about it when paired with snow!

This weekend, we traveled to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon after a nice snowfall. If you have ever wanted to see deer, this is the best time. I thought I was lucky to see about 9 early in the morning, but by the end of the day, we had probably seen around 40 in various places (including one group of about 15 just running through the snow-covered woods. This group was grazing and not too concerned about us taking pictures of them.

Fall Reflections

by Kristi Hines

Water always seems to be the calmest in the morning, which led to this serene moment where I could see the fall colors reflecting in the nearby stream.

Camping in the Fall

by Kristi Hines

This was the scene of my first camping experience in the beautiful campgrounds of Lo Lo Mai Springs outside of Sedona, Arizona. For anyone looking for a place to camp in that area, I would definitely recommend this place, especially during the fall. The colors around the campgrounds were absolutely gorgeous! More photos from this area to come next week!

Thanks Chris Frailey for sharing the photos of raccoons from here!
